repurposed bag tutorial

recently we transitioned cora into a big girl bed so i needed to get a couple new sheet sets for her. we bought a solid pink set and then picked up this cute pillowfort sheet set at target because she loves little creatures. these sets come in cute bags with velcro that usually end up being donated to other crafters, but i wanted to repurpose this one for books to keep in bed with her (she loves to read). this was a very simple and quick little sewing job and if you have a sewing machine (or a non-lazy hand for hand sewing, haha), you can get this done in 5 minutes flat!

supplies:

  • sheet set bag
  • cotton twill tape - several inches
  • seam ripper
  • scissors
  • sewing machine or needle and thread

method:

  • take your cotton twill tape and measure the length you will need
  • rip seams on bag under the flap on the inside - you'll only need to do the center
  • tuck twill tape in open area from the outside back on the bag and pin into place
  • sew twill tape into place following the same seam lines that you ripped out
  • fill with your favorite books and hang

and now you have a darling little book bag to hang from your kiddos bed post. other places you can hang is a coat hook in their room or in your reading nook, the door handle, or any other place that would work in your home.

some bunny loves her new book bag! we might have a little midnight reader on our hands.
